Growing up in North Yorkshire I developed a love of the countryside from a young age. It wasn’t long before I picked up a camera and started to take photographs of nature and the beautiful landscape that I was surrounded by.
To this day it still gives me immense pleasure to capture forever, a moment in time.
At 17, on a visit to Australia, I stumbled across the Photography Studies College in Melbourne. I applied for a place and was able to get a student visa, hence my ‘holiday’ turned into a much longer experience! I loved how different the light and Landscape were,
The bold vibrant colours, the vast spaces, like nothing I had experienced before at that time.
Returning to England a couple of years later I found work in London
as a photographer’s assistant. It wasn’t long before I branched out on my own, initially taking portraits within the corporate world. I often found myself stood on some high flying business man’s desk, trying to get an unusual angle! I laugh when I think about
some of the reactions I got at the time….but I always got the shot I wanted and usually ended up with very happy clients! Moving away from the corporate field I started taking portraits within the theatre world. I was lucky enough to meet some great people whose
work I had always admired. I have very happy memories of this period of my career and am proud of the photographs I produced.
Over the years I have been invited to many weddings. Often I have been asked to be the photographer as well as the guest! This has always been a pleasure and it is now area I find myself working in and indeed, and enjoying more and more.
